The incident took place at the CRP Square auto stand in Bhubaneswar on March 29, 2011, following a violent clash between two groups over auto parking and fare disputes. While four others were previously sentenced to life imprisonment, Biranchi had been evading arrest. He was finally traced and nabbed from the Talabania area in Puri. This arrest brings a significant closure to a long-standing criminal investigation in the capital city.
